Has your child ever received a trophy or other award just for participating on a team? How did you feel about it? Personally, I am against participation trophies and awards. I believe kids should earn their awards and if they don’t it devalues the ones that they really do earn. In this article, John O’Sullivan of the Changing the Game Project lays out his thoughts on participation awards and why he believes they are not in the best interest of kids or sports programs.
